Henry Howard March

Henry Howard “Hank” March Jr. 60 of Danville passed this life at 3:25pm., Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. Henry was born October 27, 1951 in Danville, the son of Henry H. and Imogene Pope March Sr. Henry was a graduate of Danville High School and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University. Henry served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, Elks lodge #147 I.B.P.O.E.W. and Corinthian Lodge #31 F&AM. Henry was a consultant in Russia in 2009 and recently a supervisor at Hoopeston Food. Henry loved his family and life. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters; Tiaka Thomas and Jana (L.V.) Anderson both of Atlanta GA., two grandsons; Javaun and Jayden Anderson, two sisters; Janice (Mac) Allen and Wendy (Pastor Charles) Hargrove Sr. both of Danville. A special Aunt Sarah Brigham, a special uncle Bob Lillard and a big brother Butch Phillips, his trusting companion “Angel” and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded by his parents, a nephew and a niece. Henry loved and traveled the world. He loved music and was the first black radio D.J. in Danville at W.Y.O.U. radio station. Henry had a dynamic personality and never met a stranger. He was a gentleman and scholar. A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00noon Thursday July 26, 2012 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 11:00am. until the time of the service. Officiating: Pastor Charles Hargrove Sr. Interment will be at Danville National Cemetery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams.
