Yvonne Patterson

I heard the trumpet sound Early Wednesday morning at 2:56 a.m. to leave this old earth behind to behold a future glory that my father hath prepared for me, so don't cry for me, don't shed a tear life is more abundant here.

Yvonne Patterson daughter of Shirley Drish and the late Jeff Alexander was born September, 21 1964 in Hayti, Missouri. She is a 1982 graduate of Champaign Central High School, and was employed with the Urbana School District 116 for 17 years and was a recipient of the hero awards.

The young southern belle raised in Decaturville, Tennessee, traveled to Champaign at age the young age of 13 and made her home in the city of Champaign, IL unbeknownst to her several years later she would meet her future husband. Fred Patterson, who just couldn't forget that smile and they had a wonderful two year courtship.

They married July 2, 1983 and bore two daughters Shayla N'cole Patterson, and Sheree Anette Patterson. Yvonne and Fred were happily married 29 years.

Besides her roles as a wife and mother Yvonne enjoyed traveling, baking, spending time with her family, shopping, and writing children's plays, and a great love for photography.

While fulfilling duties as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend she was an avid reader and believer in the word and other faith based books. Yvonne was prayful, faithful, and steadfast in serving the Lord as a church member, missionary, and first-lady,

Yvonne had a kind and uplifting words for anyone seeking advice or encouragement.

Even through her illness Yvonne maintained a benevolent spirit, she never lost faith, always persevered, forgiving and never gave up on people.

The word says “blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God” Mathew 5:9. That's truly what Yvonne was, if in need you could call her during rain, sleet, or snow and she would come regardless of the time to help.

Well now ma you can rest.

Yvonne slipped into eternity on Wednesday July 11, 2012 at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital.

She is survived by, husband Fred Patterson of Urbana, IL daughters Shayla and Sheree of Urbana, IL, Mother Shirley Drish of Decaturville, TN, brother Rickey Posey of Champaign, IL, sister Connie Harris of Champaign, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and godchildren.

Although you may not be able to reach her by phone she is as near as your heart through wonderful memories, and timeless moments she will always be with us.

We love you boo, we'll meet again on the other side. A Homegong celebration will be at 11:00am. Wednesday July 18, 2012 at Salem Baptist Church 500 W. Park St. Champaign.
